March 13, 2007 Board Minutes
Attendence: K. Morrow, T. Wright, R. Evans, V. Quinn, J. Barnes, Jim, J. Ahrens, J. Boan

Activities Update:

· Our appreciation to Jules Ahrens and Joe Boan for re-establishing the original vegetable gardens at the Homeplace. The gardens are now ready to be planted.
· Claude Marshall has been in contact with Northeast Elementary, Smith Elementary and Hodson Elementary in the Owasso district. Each school has expressed interest in the gardening project. Kathleen is in contact with the principals of each school via email.
· Kathleen and Ron Evans visited Pat Herald Elementary in the Collinsville district and they will consider possible involvement as time permits.

Garden Project:

The meeting adjourned to the Homeplace where the group toured the home and garden plot. Members from the Collinsville Garden Club gave instructions as to the next steps in preparation for planting in the coming weeks.

The garden has been fenced and will be tilled one more time prior to April 1.

Members also asked about a composting site and planning for a flower beds. They will develop a plan, planting schedule and budget for the meeting in April.

Centennial Project:

Jeanne Barns researched and provided a large amount of information and data from the Westport Church (Mennonite Church) located on German Corner. She has collected pictures and names of some of the original families. Kathleen will copy and maintain a copy for the Homeplace archives.

Kathleen is waiting on an application from Mary Risley for the various Collinsville activities to continue to gather statehood family names.

Ted Wright will add a page to the Homeplace webpage for the public to add their family name and approximate date to move to the Collinsville area. He will also add a link from the Collinsville page for easy access to the Morrow Homeplace site.

Historical Site:

Nancy Phelps is making contact with the Oklahoma Historical Society to arrange a visit by one of the staff to determine the feasibility of establishing the Homeplace as a historical site. There is some urgency to this visit as the south wall of the house has incurred significant movement during this past winter. Nancy will try to have someone make a site visit during the month of April.

Next Meeting:

April 10th at Eggbert's at the Hwy 169/Hwy 20 intersection at 7:30 AM. Please join us.
